In Tai Chi, the upper body relaxes and the yang or more active energy sinks to the lower body. In that way, the upper body is yin and the lower body is yang. For a lot of people, they carry their stress and tension in their upper body. Relaxing our shoulders, back, and arms can be difficult, and when we do the extra weight of our upper body sinks into our legs which is another challenge. When we are able to achieve this yin yang balance, our minds can become very calm and our whole system becomes relaxed.
