I enjoyed this article very much, and gained some insight about Master Ren and his path to tai chi. Thanks, Frances, for posting. As a young person, Master Ren was enthralled by a tai chi demonstration by Chen Xiaowang. After seeing Chen Xiaowang, Master Ren decided to learn tai chi and studied with him for 8 years, and now 40 years later, Master Ren is following in Chen Xiaowang’s footsteps in passing on the art of Chen style tai chi, and in high tech through Chi Force. Attached is a link to a YouTube video of Chen Xiaowang doing a demonstration in 2015 at age 70. I can see how Master Ren got hooked with tai chi. I think I feel the same way. After seeing the video, I thought: Hey, I want to do that. , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHenvByWPP4

Hello again. My bad, it looks like I overlooked the link to this article on this website in the lead post on the websitee, “Why learn tai chi?” I must confess that I missed the hyperlink because the color contrast between the text of the website and the hyperlinks is very slight. Having said that, the other hyperlinks in the Why learn tai chi post are to very interesting articles on the health benefits of tai chi on health-related websites like scientific research articles on the National Institutes of Health’s PubMed website and the Mayo Clinic website. Perhaps I can just say that reading the Not Your Grandmother’s Tai Chi article is a great, short article about Chen style tai chi that is definitely worth your time reading, and my enthusiastic post is just another recommendation that you read it.

I’m trying out your advice, isolating the movements, working on footwork first, then adding the upper body. Your advice helped me in figuring out the move. It is now more stable and smooth when I do it, and not off balance. I’m still working it out, but it’s much better. Thanks for the tip.
